About Us

Weald Beekeepers is a friendly, member run branch of the Kent Beekeepers' Association.

Compared to some other local beekeeping branches, we are a relatively small and new. This helps with a relaxed and supportive introduction for anyone new to beekeeping.

When our group first started 30+ years ago, we had no set location, just like minded people meeting on monthly basis to share tips, ideas and of course tea & cake. Our first group apiary was set up by John Priestley, it was just a few hives on the edge of a farmer's field in Frittenden, enough for our members to look after together. We have since moved to our current location in Frittenden with the group being run by our experienced committee members. We have grown to having a healthy number of hives, suitable for showing our members the ins and outs of beekeeping.

Whether you are young or old, have experience with keeping bees, or are a complete beginner we always like to welcome new members to our group. We now have regular Wednesday meetings at our apiary in Frittenden. Meetings are generally 3pm - 6pm with occasional gatherings on weekends. Our apiary is currently managed by Dave Keepence.

There are many advantages to joining our group for our weekly meetings. No matter how much experience you have with beekeeping, we find there is always more to learn. This includes, but is not limited to the following:

Beginner and advanced beekeeping education at our apiary.

Guest speakers, hands-on workshops and social events.

Mentorship for new beekeepers.

Club membership benefits including discounts on essential items.

Tea and cake.

For more information about the memberships we have available, please see the membership page.

Social Media

For regular updates on what is happening in the world of Weald Beekeepers we have recently set up pages and a group on Facebook and Instagram. Sometimes members can't attend our group meetings and we find this is a good way, as well as our group WhatsApp, to keep everyone in the loop of the ins and outs of the bees.
